Cosmo's Play and Learn™ software is a family of educational and computer games that aim to entertain children of developmental ages 2-to-8 years and teach math skills. This developmentally appropriate software was created by a team of educators; physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists; and assistive technology practitioners.
The Digital Frog 2.5 engages students with an interactive, virtual dissection, allowing the student to learn each of the cuts necessary by "cutting" with a digital scalpel before watching the full screen video. Animations and interactions allow students to see the science of the frog's body—from blood pumping through the heart, to joints that can be built up and moved by the user.
Although developed with college classes in mind, many of our simulated laboratories are also ideal for advanced science high school classes. Based on feedback from teachers, we created special collections of our college labs covering topics from osmosis and the cell cycle to natural selection and Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium to ecology. WriteOnline is an online word processing application for students. Users log on to the WriteOnline website, and can access word prediction features, text-to-speech, and other writing tools from any computer. Each student gets his or her personal online folders as part of the WriteOnline subscription, and they can save documents either online or to their own computer. Students' user preferences are automatically stored for them online, so the program starts up as they want it every time, on any computer.
Use this product to provide supports for planning and organizing, transcription, and editing and revising. This program provides a library of outlining templates with both procedural and content prompts which can be reviewed with speech output. Drafts can be auto-created from the outline. Transcription legibility, accuracy and word fluency are supported with dynamic word prediction and an expandable library of topical word lists with the option of viewing suggestions by part of speech. Editing is supported with a spell check tool and a homonym checking tool.
BBC Science Simulations 1 provides an opportunity for children to explore seven "virtual" science investigations. The simulations include making plants grow, exercise, building electrical circuits and more. This program is perfect for whole class instruction using a whiteboard and provides an excellent opportunity for students to predict, carry out, and evaluate investigations with the additional benefit of being able to simply reset them and start again. BBC Science Simulations 2 provides opportunities for early elementary students to interact with seven virtual science investigations. Students can develop their understanding of fair testing by controlling variables on screen and can see instant results by selecting to view a table or graph alongside the animation. A "Questions" section with full narration provides ideas for investigations that students can complete independently.
