A series of activities to engage students while building math skills.

## Product

Use Destination Math as a comprehensive K-12 mathematics program that transforms math instruction through an interactive learning environment. Featuring sequenced, prescriptive, step-by-step instruction, Destination Math helps students develop fluency in critical skills, math reasoning, conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.

Hey Math is a web-based, supplemental K-12 math program. The program includes demonstrations of concepts, practice exercises and games in a variety of topics at each grade level. Teachers can use the program for whole class demonstrations of concepts or assign exercises and reinforcement activities to individual students. Teachers can monitor student progress for each grade-level topic.

In the 2000/2001 school year, the Moore, OK Independent School District conducted a thorough study aimed at understanding the effectiveness of the Cognitive Tutor Algebra I program on students in their junior high school system. To allow the most rigorous test of the effectiveness of this course, the study was conducted as a true experiment, with students randomly assigned to either the Cognitive Tutor Algebra I course or a traditional Algebra I course. To control for teacher effects, some teachers taught both traditional and Cognitive Tutor courses.

This program introduces and builds fundamental early math skills in numbers, shapes, sizes, quantities, patterns, sequencing, addition, and subtraction.

Classworks is a web-based instructional software that provides interactive lessons, customized learning and assessment in K-12 Math, Reading, and Language Arts. Elementary Science lessons are also available. Classworks units are based on state standards and offer interactive instruction through a multi-sensory approach that includes voice, pop-up text, audio support, video, photographs, artist drawings, and animated clips. The multiple modalities may be helpful for those with limited English proficiency or learning disabilities, or as a Response to Intervention.

The I CAN Learn® Education System is an interactive, self-paced, mastery-based software system that includes the I CAN Learn® Fundamentals of Math (5th–6th grade math) curriculum, the I CAN Learn® Pre-Algebra curriculum, and the I CAN Learn® Algebra curriculum. Studies included in this WWC review assess the effectiveness of the Pre-Algebra and Algebra components of the I CAN Learn® Education System. One study of I CAN Learn® Pre-Algebra and Algebra meets What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) evidence standards and four studies meet WWC evidence standards with reservations.

This study explored the performance of seventh-grade students with and without disabilities, educated in inclusive math classes, on a mathematics assessment aligned to state standards with graphing calculators as an accommodation. The study used random assignment of classes to condition with students nested in classes. Students did not use a graphing calculator on the preassessment but approximately half (52.5%) had access to a graphing calculator on the post-assessment.

GeoGebra is a dynamic mathematics software for schools that joins geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics and calculus. Users can do constructions with points, vectors, segments, lines, conic sections as well as functions and change them dynamically afterwards. Additionally, math equations and coordinates can be entered directly. GeoGebra allows students to see the relationships between these different branches of mathematics.GeoGebra is available both online and offline versions.

An environment in which students can select from several different math-related activities, earning points and charting their progres.. Different software packages are available, covering grades 1 through 12. A home version is also available through Knowledge Adventure (www.knowledgeadventure.com/).
